About William's Journey

Our Organization

William's Journey is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a positive impact within the intellectually and developmentally disabled community. William's Journey was founded in response to the pressing need for improved care and advocacy for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Recognizing the gaps in training and resources available to healthcare aides, our organization was created to bridge this divide. Comprised of experienced professionals, advocates, and caregivers, our team works collaboratively to develop innovative training programs, secure essential funding, and promote policy changes that enhance healthcare standards. We also strive to build a supportive network for families and caregivers, providing them with the resources and education they need. Together, we are committed to transforming the landscape of care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring that they thrive in an understanding and compassionate environment.

Our Mission

At William's Journey, our mission is to advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by improving the quality of care they receive. We are committed to raising awareness about their unique needs and rights, ensuring that their voices are heard and their challenges are understood. Through specialized training programs for healthcare aides, we aim to equip caregivers with the knowledge and skills necessary for compassionate, informed support. Our ultimate goal is to foster a society where every individual receives the dignified care they deserve.

Our Initiatives

At William's Journey, we are dedicated to improving the quality of care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through impactful initiatives that empower both healthcare aides and families. Our primary focus is on developing specialized training programs for healthcare aides, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to provide compassionate, informed care. By elevating professional standards, we aim to ensure that caregivers are fully prepared to meet the unique needs of this community.

In addition to training, we foster community support through workshops designed for families and caregivers. These programs empower them with essential tools and insights for better understanding and caring for their loved ones. Our advocacy efforts also seek to influence policy changes that promote improved healthcare standards and accessibility. Together, these initiatives reflect our commitment to creating a more compassionate and informed healthcare environment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our Founders

Fred Trump

Fred C. Trump III is the grandson of Fred Trump, patriarch of the Trump family real estate empire, and nephew of Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States. Fred has always prioritized keeping his immediate family out of the media spotlight, however, a fight for his son’s health and safety compelled him to embrace a public role as an advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In his recent memoir, All in the Family, Fred shares his journey to become a “different kind of Trump”,  as he aims to inspire others and shed light on disability rights as civil rights. Fred’s advocacy is rooted in a deeply personal mission, as William's father, driven by the belief that every individual deserves dignity and support.

Lisa Trump

Lisa Lorant Trump is the wife of Fred Trump, mother of their three children, Cristopher, Andrea and William, and a dedicated advocate for the intellectually and developmentally disabled. Her son, William, was born with a rare seizure disorder and a KCNQ2 genetic mutation, making him developmentally disabled. Her personal experience as a mother has fueled her passion for supporting families in similar situations. She has actively participated on the Board of Abilis, which provides services for individuals with special needs, serves as Secretary on the Board of S.E.L.F., helping under-resourced families navigate special education advocacy and is now a proud founder of William's Journey. Through these roles, Lisa aims to empower other families while drawing from her own journey with William.
